Welcome Message from Congress President |
|
Dear Friends and
Colleagues,
It is my great
pleasure and honor to invite you to the 35th Asia-Pacific
Academy of Ophthalmology Congress, to be held in Xiamen, China, from
April 22 – 26, 2020. We are glad that this prestigious ophthalmic
event once again lands on a city in Mainland China after five
years.
Back in 2015, the
APAO Congress was one of the biggest and most significant
conferences in the country, bringing over 10,000 attendees from 75
countries around the world to exchange their insights and experience
in ophthalmology. Following the success, the APAO 2020 Congress will
invite ophthalmic practitioners, including top-notch specialists,
clinicians, eye surgeons and researchers, from the Asia-Pacific
region and globally, to explore the latest scientific innovations,
treatments and surgical techniques showcased at the event. We are
anticipating over 1,000 international distinguished speakers and
more than 10,000 delegates from all over the world to take part.
Xiamen, or formerly
known as Amoy, is a beautiful port city in the southern China. It
has both the prosperous facet of big cities and the quietness and
simplicity of the fishing village. Its famous Gulangyu Island is a
world heritage site and is vehicle-free with beaches and meandering
streets lined with old villas and architecture. With no doubt you
will not be disappointed by this “Sea Garden”!
We look forward to
welcoming you to Xiamen in April 2020!
With warmest personal
regards,
Prof. Ke Yao
Congress President

Xiamen – “a City at Sea, a City with Sea” |
|
| |
Xiamen, or formerly known
as Amoy, is a famous port city located on the southeast coast of China,
across a strait from Taiwan. It consists of a mainland territory and two
major islands. Its naturally given, stunning coastal scenery has earned
it the fame of “Garden City” and “Oriental Hawaii”.
Nowadays Xiamen is an
important regional center for finance and trade. It is also a cultural
hub embracing both ancient and modern, oriental and western elements.
Some 64 intangible cultural heritage items can be found in the city,
adding to Gulangyu Island, the world heritage site accredited in 2017.
Food in Xiamen is as
enchanting and diverse due to the geographic location. Fried seafood,
famous Fujianese dish Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, Nanyang’s
Shacha noodles, Taiwanese oyster rolls, and many more street snacks will
delight even the most selective taste buds. Discover more in Xiamen in
2020! |
